"Game-changer voor enterprise network configuration management" Posted 2025-07-07
Pros: We've been using Unimus for several years now in large corporate networks with multiple vendor equipment - this is where Unimus truly shines. Whether managing networks with 5 different devices or scaling up to 50+ devices, the peace of mind Unimus brings is invaluable.
The automated daily backups have transformed our operations. No more config files scattered across shared drives or outdated documentation. Everything is centralized, versioned, and instantly accessible.
What really sets Unimus apart is its seamless integration with our change management process. The "backup before change" workflow is brilliant - one API call in our rollout scripts ensures we always have a reliable rollback option. And let's be honest, not everything goes right on the first try, so having that safety net is crucial.
The time savings are substantial - we're talking hours per month depending on change frequency. But it's not just about time; it's about reliability and consistency.
One unexpected benefit: Unimus has become a cornerstone of our NetBox automation. Through API integration between Unimus and NetBox, we maintain real-time network documentation. No more outdated Visio diagrams - just accurate, live network state.Cons: it's to easy to setup... Even Windows sysadmin can do this.... :-)
Overall: I recommend Unimus to every sys/network admin dealing with multi-vendor environments. It's one of those tools that once you start using it, you wonder how you ever managed without it.

"Moving to Unimus was a big step forward from RANCID" Posted 2025-07-06
Pros: Unimus is easy to deploy, easy to use, and feature rich. We initially deployed it to take over from our legacy RANCID config backups. However, progressively we've used it for mass config updates and auditing, and I trust we'll get a lot more value from it yet. Also, the Unimus team have been really supportive and great to work with.
Cons: We haven't had any major frustrations with Unimus at this stage.
Overall: Overall, we've really enjoyed the Unimus experience thus far. It's a massive shift of gear from what we had with RANCID. And we're starting to reap the benefits from power of automation with mass updates and audits. As we complete a core network refresh, we'll deploy satellite collectors for added scalability and resilience.

"Unimus After 5 Years: A Reliable Workhorse for Network Config Management" Posted 2025-06-27
Pros: • Simple to Deploy Anywhere: Whether on-prem or in the cloud, setup is smooth and straightforward.
• Scales Well: We’ve got about 1,000 devices in Unimus, and it handles them effortlessly.
• Backups That Just Work: It backs up nearly everything we throw at it. For niche or unsupported devices, the REST API fills in the gaps.
• Change Tracking: Configuration change notifications have been a lifesaver—great visibility into who changed what and when.
• Mass Config Push: Game-changer. We can push changes across devices without looping in DevOps or scripting everything ourselves.
• Solid Support: Their support team is responsive and helpful, especially during U.S. business hours.Cons: • Limited Notification Options: Only a few built-in providers are supported. We’d love generic webhook support for more flexibility.
• No Direct Backup Links: It would be super useful to have a static URL for the latest backup of a device—perfect for documentation.Overall: After five years of daily use, Unimus has proven itself as a dependable, low-maintenance solution for network config management. It’s not too flashy, but it’s powerful and does exactly what it promises. The core features—backups, change tracking, and mass config push—are solid, and the REST API helps fill in the gaps. A few improvements to notifications and UI polish would be welcome, but nothing that’s a dealbreaker. We’re sticking with Unimus for the long haul.

"Outstanding software" Posted 2025-06-26
Pros: Simple yet powerful software written for a specific function by people who really understand what it is that customers need. Unimus provided an extremely quick, easy, and cost-effective way for us to implement a vital business function. "It Just Works" is an entirely appropriate description and it hasn't given us a spot of trouble in the years we've been using it. The developers are extremely responsive to support requests, suggestions, and feature requests.
Cons: The only downside I can possibly think of is that it default sorts my device list in reverse alphabetical order (but there's a chance that's been fixed now, I'm not even on the latest version)
Overall: This is a rare gem in the enterprise software world - it performs one function extremely well. Unimus has been invaluable for managing our sprawling and disparate network estate, particularly with regard to deploying new configs, auditing and sanitising existing configs, change tracking, and ensuring business continuity. Overall Unimus represents the highest ratio of functionality-to-cost of any of our tooling.

"BAI Connect Unimus Review" Edited 2025-06-24
Pros: So far, everything about the product is great except for 1 item that I'm mentioning in cons. Highly recommended.
Cons: Under the master device list, it would be great to be able to filter by existing tags. Also, it would be even better if the list can be filtered using multiple parameters, such as matching string within address and vendor, etc.
Overall: So far, everything about the product is great except for 1 item that I'm mentioning in cons. Highly recommended.
