Comet Backup

Pros: Very easy to submit a support ticket via the control panel. I was notified of ticket updates via email almost instantly. Support was friendly and knowledgeable.

Cons: Honestly, there was no cons. They did exactly what they needed to do. The response time was good and they provided the information needed to resolve the issue quickly (which wasn't really and issue, it was more a novice mistake).

Overall: Comet has been a great product. The backups are very quick. I needed support for a novice mistake and they were very timely in their response and provided helpful information to resolve my issue issue. The interface is really nice and they make it easy to get support. I came from another product and the backups took twice as long and their support was horrible. Comet has been a great choice for use!

Pros: What I liked most about Comet Backup is its flexibility and security. The customizable storage options and fast recovery process make it a reliable solution for data protection.

Cons: What I liked least about Comet Backup is its complex initial setup. It requires some technical knowledge to configure properly.

Pros: Comet is available for almost anything you can think of. Windows, Linux, MacOS. You can also backup information from Microsoft 365. The software works fine, there are plenty of storage options.

Cons: The pricing model has some issues. For Microsoft 365 backup all users are counted, including guest users, where other solutions count only regular users, making Comet more expensive in some cases. Also, starting this year you have to pay an additional fee for servers hosted in your own datacenter, apart from the normal licenses.

Overall: There are no issues using this product. Setup is easy and quick. Backup and restore works great and fast.

Pros: Comet Backup is easy use and offers great features automatic backups and strong data encryption it works well with various platforms and cloud storage options, making it perfect for my needs.

Cons: The reporting could be better i'd like more real time backup status updates the pricing might be a bit high for startup businesses.

Overall: I have been using around 7 to 8 months and its reliable for keeping my data safe. It could use some improvements but its still a solid choice.

Pros: There are many things that i like about Comet Backup some of them are.
Good user interface, clean dashboards, user friendly software as well as very much cost effective.

Cons: They are headed in the right direction, I don't feel any improvements needs to be done here.

Overall: My experience with Comet Backup has been awesome, we are using it from almost 3 years and have not faced any challenges in any matter.
they are super helpful and super Comet Backup works vey well with our systems. its compatible with almost all cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure etc.

Pros: The application provides a very easy way to back up with enough flexibility in the customization. The implementation and ease of use is very efficient and makes the features work better. It even integrates seamlessly with other cloud providers like azure.

Cons: The User Interface of application looks very clean and simple. But the UI part can be made more intuitive and better as the critical features demand an attractive UI.

Overall: The problems about the backup issues are resolved with an excellent service and even the lightweight framework of the applications acts as an icing on the cake. The incremental backup was very useful during the archival processes as it reduced bandwidth and usage of the storage. The flexible pricing feature makes it affordable.

Pros: The support has been great to deal with. Some bugs were found and they were quick to mitigate them. Backup works great. Easy API.

Cons: How to calculate billing for each tenant could have been made easier.

Overall: Great experience overall. Few missing M365 in start that was fixed in a few months of onboarding. Great support.

Pros: I like the ability to host my own server. Easy to setup and supports a wide range of operating systems including NAS vendors.

Cons: The API is aggravating and complicated. I can see why few things integrate with it. Cannot restore images to smaller drives.

Overall: It is a great backup platform for MSPs. Comet is easy to use and easy to deploy. Runs on just about anything.

Pros: First of all, I chose this product because it had all the features I needed and was relatively affordable.

Second, I’ve been using it for several years now, and there haven’t been any major issues—whenever something did come up, support was always quick to help.

Third, the bulk update feature is especially useful, as it updates all the clients, so there’s no need to do it manually or set up additional automation.

Cons: We use it with another storage service. The error messages are not always clear, though this may depend on the storage provider, so we end up contacting support more often.

Overall: Overall, I am very happy with the product. It was installed and configured once, and since then, there have been no issues—only checking the logs and applying updates as needed.

Cons: Somewhat pricey depending on number of users...
No 'auto-update' for Synology Client.

Overall: Very Good Online Backup Solution. Easy to navigate the online portal. Some error messages can be confusing - but, support is good at helping sort through them.

Pros: -Easy to deploy and manage
-Client software is customizable and allows you to rebrand it with your own name and logo - great for MSPs
-Easy to understand for end users

Cons: -Some settings are ambiguous, however support is pretty responsive and it hasn't been a big problem

Overall: I've set up Comet for multiple clients and it works well. It's a good solution for MSPs as it's easy to manage multiple tenants and the software allows you to rebrand it with your own logo.

Pros: So easy to setup - extremely easy to use interface and even the whole server setup is easy. Very lightweight too!

Cons: Nothing we didn't like really - expected this to be great and it is!

Overall: The product as a whole is amazing, the software is lightweight and sets up very easy and quickly - probably one of the best backup solutions I've seen so far!

Pros: Feature rich, easy to use and allows you to manage your own infrastructure so that you can make use of your own storage server.

Cons: Slightly difficult to set up if you use the self managed option.

Overall: Excellent backup solution that is competitive, feature rich and easy to use. I have tried many different backup solutions and this is by far the best one.

Pros: I like the ease of use as well as the ability to see what is going on quickly with my end points. Since it works with my MSP software I can get reports and such through there.

Cons: There isn't much that I don't like, but selecting what needs to be backed up and retention can be a little confusing.

Overall: Overall the software is better than others that I have tried and I think it's a good value for the money.

Overall: It's not bad to use and easy to recover files when i do, wish there was a quicker way to just download the file rather then just choosing the location to recover and it can be confusing.

Overall: Would not recommend this product. It has a steep learning curve and is buggy whether you are use the self-hosted server or their cloud hosted server.

Pros: I have been using CometBackup since 2020 to provide a managed backup service for over 600 servers over S3. It is a reliable backup software yet simple to deploy and manage through a self-hosted web portal and at a very reasonable price.
I love the API with allowed me to implement some automation in provisioning new customers.
New features are regularly implemented.

Cons: Although the product is very well documented and the team provides a 24/7 support, advanced support is in New Zealand and, when you work in France as i do, i means a 12hours wait in between questions/answers.
The licences credit is prepaid but i wish i could purchase more than 10k € at a time.

Overall: A reliable, full featured yet simple to deploy and manage backup solution at a very reasonable price too

Pros: Comet's support team is fantastic I've only had to reach out a handful of teams and was blown away each time. The backup server is very easy to setup, use, and maintain - I've yet to have an outage caused by finicky updates or software bugs (knock on wood, lol). Comet backup gets frequent updates with both a "bleeding edge" and "stable" branch with clear and easy accessible changelogs to view changes and note any additional maintenance needed on my end. Documentation for the server and client is light years ahead of just about all other software I've used! I'm extremely happy Comet supports hosting everything yourself while also offering hosted options - usually when companies do this, the self-hosted option is scarcely supported or is feature-crippled. This has never been an issue for me with Comet; as a self-hosted user, I feel like Comet cares about me as much as their hosted customers.

Cons: UI can feel a little clunky at times; sometimes I need to go three or four windows deep when configuring backup jobs to get the scheduling setup well (that's mostly because I micromanage backup jobs, though. The average user probably won't run into this). I'm a little frustrated with how Comet handles laptops - my server manages roughly 20 clients, ranging from 24/7 desktops in businesses to sporadically-used residential laptops, and backup jobs fairly frequently get "stuck" because a laptop was closed while the job was running. There have been several updates to address these concerns, though.

Overall: I could not be happier with Comet and strongly recommend it to MSPs, internal IT teams, and even tech-savvy users looking for more control over their data backups. Comet has never let me down and has me as a customer for life!
