With the release of the Version 18 update 1, 3CX Video Conference sets a new
standard for privacy and performance. Now running on your company’s own
installation, to safeguard both your data and customer data.
We’ve completely rewritten the web app which now performs up to 60% more
resource-efficiently than the previous versions. This allows a higher frame
rate for a smoother video rendering and is less demanding on older hardware.
Since Video Conferencing now runs in your own installation, meetings no longer
need to share attendee information to 3CX in order to create the invite or for
attendees to join a session.
To work reliably, the 3CX System and the cloud provided media distribution
units (MCU) need to establish a link for the duration of the meeting. This
is required to mitigate potential issues caused by unstable or unreliable WAN
access to the 3CX System (e.g. attendees being denied access to meetings or
meeting reports being issued before the meeting ends). V18 Update 1 has
several changes to this area including a more sophisticated method to re-send
meeting recordings to 3CX reducing the need for connectivity to the meeting.
To ensure your audience can access your meetings it is strongly recommended to
run 3CX off the default HTTPS port 443. This will secure higher access
probability for strictly configured networks such as enterprise, hotel and
airport internet access. In case you have already used port 443 on your WAN IP
address and you don’t have an additional IP to run 3CX from on-premise, you
could consider relocating 3CX into the cloud.

Lastly, the client now shows the connectivity status of the meeting. This
allows IT administrators to monitor the dial-in status of the 3CX System to
the meeting and how reliable the link of your 3CX to a meeting is in general.
This is beneficial as it will equip the admin team to review the WAN
connectivity if required.
