Most of the work since the last release has been on behind the scenes features, such as fixing various issues with the new cmake based build system (which has made our life a lot easier) and a lot of small code improvements. A lot has changed since the last release - so much that we can't even remember most of it anymore. In particular Boson has moved away from CVS to subversion and away from autotools to cmake. The cmake change will probably cause some trouble in the beginning, as it completely replaces our build system. For nearly the whole time since the last release in early 2004 both main Boson developers have been too busy with various non-Boson things to concentrate for long enough on an actual release. Release of Boson 0.10, a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game for the K Desktop Environment.

Another core feature is improved level of detail code. You can look at a large area of the map containign many units without significant speed loss now. Also there are many other performance related improvements in this release.... read more
Release of Boson 0.9.1, a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game for the K Desktop
Environment.
This is a bugfix release, fixing a couple of important problems in boson 0.9
Both the data and the music packages are unchanged, so if you already
downloaded and installed them (or maybe the -all package) you need the code
package only this time.
Nearly complete changelog (since 0.9):
- Network with kdegames from KDE < 3.2 is fixed
- Minor file format fix, that causes less trouble with network
- Ground texture pixmaps are loaded correctly in the editor
- Factory productions are saved correctly
- Try to find a usable GL font, even if Qt doesn't find any
- Don't crash when using proprietary NVidia drivers and no usable font was
found (reported to NVidia nearly a year ago)... read more
Release of Boson 0.9, a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game for the K Desktop Environment.
The last release of Boson (0.8) was more than half a year ago, so we cannot list all of the changes here. However we will try to present the most interesting ones.
Two movies of Boson running got released - see http://boson.eu.org/movies.php These movies were made with the new movie grabbing feature. It is very (!) slow, but in conjunction with the powerful new scripting features, you can make really nice movies now.

The Boson Team (Boson is an OpenGL real-time strategy game) has released two short movies, showing how Boson can look like.
The first movie shows an aircraft bombarding the enemy's base and the second one shows a big attack against the enemy.
They were entirely made with Boson engine, using scripts and Boson code form CVS.

Release of Boson 0.7, a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game for the K Desktop Environment. Version 0.7 of Boson is primarily a port to OpenGL. This means the game must now be hardware accelerated with a video card (assuming you want to actually play the game and not admire how pretty it is). However, OpenGL also allows our developers to further enhance the game with special effects.
Boson currently requires a minimum of 2 players due to lack of an artificial intelligence and is *not* yet playable. We are in need of more developers and graphics artists. If you have any spare time and the ability to code in Qt/C++ or you know your way around a graphics editor, we would appreciate the help. ... read more
Release of Boson 0.6, a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game for the K Desktop Environment.
Boson still requires a minimum of two players, as there is not yet an artificial intelligence. The game is still under heavy development and
0.6 is merely a milestone rather than a fully playable game. We are in need of more developers, especially graphics artists. If you have any

The boson Team will be represented at the OSDEM (see http://www.raphinou.org and soon http://www.osdem.org\) and will give a presentation of boson internals. This is aimed at developpers, not users.
The company holding boson.eu.org will be closed soon and I've decided to move to sourceforge. All but the code will be soon here.
The code CVS will be moved sometime during december.
